The President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), Mr. Dauda Fuseni, has assured boxing enthusiasts of a thrilling spectacle when the finals of the 2026 National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship take centre stage on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with KA Sports Boxing, Mr. Fuseni said the championship is not only about crowning national champions but also about opening doors for the next generation of Ghanaian boxers.

“This championship goes beyond medals,” he noted. “We are creating opportunities for young athletes through international exposure, Olympic qualification pathways, and clear professional career prospects.”

He explained that the federation has adopted international best practices to elevate the standard of competition and unearth fresh talent capable of representing Ghana on the global stage.

“For this championship, we have adopted the Field of Play (FOP) system for judges and referees, among other measures, to maintain order, fairness and safety,” Mr. Fuseni stated.

According to the GBF President, the finals mark the first step in a broader development plan for the nation’s emerging talents, particularly prospects for the Black Bombers and Black Rockets , Ghana’s national amateur boxing teams.

He disclosed that plans are underway to secure international training camps for eventual champions to adequately prepare them for major competitions, including the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.

The championship, which began on January 29 and 30, featured 145 boxers from across the country. After weeks of competition, the field has been trimmed to 26 finalists who will battle for gold and silver honours on Friday  at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

The event is expected to attract high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister for Sports and Recreation, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, members of the diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.

The 2026 National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship finals will be broadcast live on KA Sports Boxing.
