HON. KOTEY ASHIE RALLIES SUPPORT FOR JUVINILE BOXING DEVELOPMENT

Boxing in Bukom is more than a sport, it is a lifeline. And for the Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Hon. Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, that lifeline begins with the youth. Speaking over the weekend at the National Amateur Boxing Championship in Bukom, the MP revealed that his deep passion for juvenile boxing inspired the creation of MP’s Punch, a grassroots initiative staged twice every year to nurture young talents and keep the boxing spirit alive in the community.

“I have been so passionate about juvenile boxing that is why I came up with one called the MP’s Punch which we will be doing twice every year”

Hon. Kotey Ashie explained that MP’s Punch was designed to give young fighters a platform to discover and sharpen their skills early. According to him, Ghana’s boxing future depends heavily on how well the country builds its athletes from the grassroots.

“Let us continue to build our boxers from the base, let us catch them young, develop them and Ghana future will be great”

The MP also took time to commend the passionate fans and patrons who consistently show up in their numbers whenever boxing events are staged in Bukom. He described their presence as a powerful motivation for the young fighters, adding that the culture of community support remains one of the strongest pillars of Ghana boxing.

“I want to say a very big thank you to all us, you have always shown that you love boxing, whenever we come here you come in your numbers. God bless you”

At the climax of the event, Hon. Kotey Ashie proudly presented medals and prizes to the 12 finalists, celebrating their hard work and determination. He urged the young boxers to remain disciplined, train harder, and stay focused on their dreams.
