Best of Bukom 3 Cancelled Amid Partner Dispute – KA Sports Boxing

Boxing fans in Accra have been left shocked after the much-anticipated Best of Bukom 3 fight night, set for Friday, May 8, was called off just four days to the event.

What was expected to be one of the biggest nights in Ghana boxing fell apart after key partners, RBS Promotions and Laboma Beach Resort, suddenly pulled out.
The news hasn’t gone down well with the boxing community. Fighters, promoters, and fans are all trying to come to terms with how things unraveled so close to fight night. Bishop Boxing Promotions, who organised the event, have described the situation as sabotage and say they are preparing to take legal action to recover the money already spent.

Speaking in an emotional interview, CEO of Bishop Promotions, Dave Bishop made his frustration clear.

“We came to put on the biggest boxing event in Ghana boxing history. We did everything we were supposed to do,” he said.

“Then at the last minute, some inexperience partners pulled out of their obligations and left everyone stranded with no alternative , no reason to try and negotiate, they have zero tolerance…”

He added that their actions left him with no real option but to cancel.

“…They forced me to a position where I had to cancel the event and reorganise at the same time but I will hold Laboma beach and RBS Promotions accountable for their actions…”

The cancellation has hit the fighters especially hard. Many had spent weeks in camp, preparing for what could have been a big moment in their careers. Trainers and coaches now have to rethink their plans, while fans who were looking forward to the fights are left disappointed.

For Ghana’s boxing scene, known for producing top talent, this situation highlights ongoing concerns about how events are managed and the reliability of partnerships.

“… this can’t go unnoticed because boxers, their trainers and coaches and the fans deserved more than this…” Bishop reiterated.

Now, attention shifts to the possible legal battle ahead and whether Best of Bukom 3 can be rescheduled. For now, a night that promised so much has ended in disappointment.
