Black Bombers Jets off to Ireland Ahead of 2026 Commonwealth Games – KA Sports Boxing

Ghana’s national boxing team, the Black Bombers, has departed for Ireland to begin a two-week acclimatization camp ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August. The camp is expected to help the boxers adjust to the weather conditions and fine-tune their preparations as they aim to deliver strong performances on the international stage.

Leading the men’s squad is team captain Abdul Wahid Omar, who will compete in the 65kg Light Welterweight division, with Amadu Mohammed serving as assistant captain. The team also includes Desmond Pappoe, Ebenezer Ankrah, Precious Akai Nettey, Jibril Muntari, and Daniel Plange. The women’s team is captained by Ramatu Quaye, a Police Officer competing in the 51kg Flyweight division, while Nancy Banfo, an Army Officer, serves as assistant captain alongside teammate Adelaide Djabatey.

The team will be guided by experienced Head Coach Ofori Asare, assisted by coaches Charles Quartey and Daniel Lartekwei Lartey. With Ghana’s proud boxing tradition at the Commonwealth Games, expectations remain high that the Black Bombers will use the training camp to sharpen their skills and return home with medals from Glasgow.
